Ferry Bluff State Natural Area

Another quick, short hike with extremely rewarding views is at Ferry Bluff State Natural Area.  Recent rains had water levels high and bugs were mildly annoying but if you hike fast enough there’s no issue.

Another view looking the other direction across the Wisconsin River.  Some of the best scenery in the state right here.  Weather today was just about perfect.

Several large turkey vultures were circling the cliffs and riding the thermals in search of food.  My long range lens isn’t very good but I caught one good shot of the birds in flight.  The area is known for roosting bald eagles but we didn’t spot any today.

Hiking Data

A short 3/4 mile round trip gets you atop the bluffs with amazing views.  What else do I need to say?  10/10 would do this again.
