I stayed at Potato River Falls nearly until dark and hadn’t planned a campsite – not an oversight, just didn’t expect to take that long (but it was worth it). Although I could have just camped there at a primitive site, I badly needed a shower from the hot temperatures. Lucky for me there were showers, camping, gas, food, and a bar directly north on WI-169 at Frontier Bar & Campground. I showered then had a great fish fry and an Old Fashioned, and finally settled in at tent site #T2.
Now keep in mind this was during the pandemic and I was social distancing the best I could, but this was an exception and fairly low risk as not many other people were out. It was an odd but familiar feeling to sit at the bar again after so long isolating. I took a look at the forecast now that I had service again, and was pleased to see falling temperatures finally! Though the rain tomorrow would pose some challenges it was a welcome change. More to come, the wheels don’t stop turning for long!
