Quick stop at a local joint called GasLite Bar and Grill in Ellsworth, Wisconsin to check out a possible small “falls” on the Trimbelle River that runs behind the property. Surprisingly, I thought this was just a small dive bar but boy was I wrong – they have a huge football-field sized yard out back and host some big events like concerts, bike rallies, and tractor pulls. Anyways on a dead weekday like today there was nobody around so easiest access is just to drive right up to the bridge on the circle loop (after getting permission, of course).
Right underneath that small foot bridge is the “falls”, a tiny rapids that is nice but nothing to write home about.
Another angle from standing slightly upstream. It’s hard to find a good spot to stand, the bank drops sharply and much of the brush is overgrown blocking the views.
Best part about stopping here? Hands down, the cheese curds. Ellsworth Creamery is known for their cheese curds and if I’m not mistaken these are those. Honestly these might have been some of the most delicious deep fried curds I’ve ever had in my life. Two thumbs up, stop for curds if nothing else!
