This past weekend, the weather finally graced us with temps around 70, sunny skies, and dry grounds. Took a day trip up to Kettle Moraine State Forest—Southern Unit for some much needed hiking. On the suggestion of a park ranger, decided to try the Nordic trails because they are less busy with mountain bikers today. I did the brown and orange trails which are very easy with minimal elevation change. Nothing spectacular because the trees are only beginning to bud, but a nice walk with very few insects at this point of the season.
Whats the point of posting this? To anyone else taking a camera on their trips, I highly recommend to double-check your gear before starting your hike and DO NOT leave the memory card in the car like I did. Figuring it out when you are miles away from the car is a bummer, especially when you already have the tripod set up.
