Run-D.M.C. is credited with breaking hip-hop into the mainstream. The group was founded by Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels and Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell, all from the Hollis neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. Run-D.M.C.’s hits include “It’s Like That,” “Rock Box” and the groud breaking 1986 cover of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way,” a rap-rock collaboration performed with Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. The song was the first hip-hop track to make the Top 10… (cut off in photo)
