Made a quick stop at the Irma Hotel (and Restaurant and Grill) in Cody, Wyoming courtesy of a comment on another post from my friend Vicki.
Plaque on the exterior denotes it’s importance on the National Register of Historic Places. Per Wikipedia: “Cody is named after Buffalo Bill Cody for his part in the founding of Cody in 1896.” Guess who built the Irma Hotel in 1902? Buffalo Bill Cody.
It was fun to look around the old hotel with all the western memorabilia and animal mounts. But mostly because this was early on a Thursday morning in the off season for tourism, all I did was get in the way of hotel staff doing cleaning and repairs so I kept ‘er movin.
Same goes for the restaurant and bar – no food in sight, it’s the off season during a weekday morning and deader than a door nail. Only two other curious souls taking in the sights. Fun little stop but now it’s time to see Yellowstone.
Author’s note: I am revisiting old posts from my 2016 road trip because I posted all of them from my cell phone and some of them are a bit of a mess. Main reason is to properly edit photos rather than just having what came out of my phone camera, and to include higher res photos from my mirrorless camera that never got published. Additionally some of the locations on the Geomap are wrong or often have multiple locations in a single post. OG text should be captured in a summary field when available.
